Mackerel Fayre
The 2025 Fayre took place on 11 May and again proved a great success
The sun shone wonderfully, and visitors and passers-by turned up in great numbers to enjoy and celebrate Brighton's fishing heritage
Father Thomas from St Paul's Church arrived to administer 'The Blessing of The Nets', paying tribute to the brave tradition of local fisherman over many past centuries, and giving thanks for the riches of the sea in time-honoured custom. Jack from the Sea Haze read the Gospel. from Luke : The miraculous draft of fish'
Mayor Asaduzzaman welcomed everyone to the proceedings,
Councillor Amanda Grimshaw spoke as Armed Forces Champion reminding us this VE8O weekend of the importance of the contribution of the Royal Navy and other seafarers to the defence of our islands.....and local Sea Cadets were put through their paces in a fine display of drill technique!
Music was provided by the Swing Ninjas (a last minute stand in - thanks guys) ,Nine Dead Mice,and Tom 'The Amazing Busker' ...request a song and he just might know it!
