Brighton Fishing Quarter

Brighton Fishing Quarter is the heart of Brighton’s seafront. Occupied by Brighton fishermen, local artists, photographers and independent traders, the area has a rich heritage and character unlike anywhere else. Find out more about the many shops and attractions we have to offer by selecting from the panel below. From purchasing locally caught fresh fish, sitting back with a coffee or some lunch, to exploring work by local artists or wandering through our Museum - there’s plenty to see and do.

You’ll also find plenty of activities and entertainment going on in The Quarter year-round. Enjoy your time here, stop to say hello to one of the many friendly faces here and discover a lively community working here in the heart of Brighton seafront.

Learn about the Brighton Fisherman’s Society, established on this seafront in 1813.

This community based gallery provides a unique, light and airy space. Based in one of the seafront arches, it atracts a large and vaired selection of people.

Sea Haze

Neil Messenger is the Fishing Quarter's fishmonger. At Neils arch you'll find Brightons best range of locally caught fish and shell fish, straight from his family boat.

This is a new space available to hire as of spring 2022 for meetings, courses, lectures, plays, exhibits or anything else. Come down and have a look.

Jack & Linda Traditional Fish Smokers

Jack and Linda established the smokehouse in 1996, retiring in 2019. The sandwich shop is under new ownership.

Fishing Quarter Coffee Shop

If you at the Fishing Quarter and in need of some refreshments, there is no better place to go. They sell great Coffee, Cookies, Home-made lemonade and much more.

Fishing Quarter Workshop

In the mid 1990s when the museum was being built, this arch was commandeered as the volunteers maintenance workshop.
